On the outskirts of a village in Burgenland, a small-scale residential complex is being developed, consisting of semi-detached houses and a compact multi-family building with four units. The ensemble has been deliberately designed in scale and typology to correspond with the village structure and is harmoniously integrated into the existing settlement fabric. The chosen roof forms echo the gently rolling landscape and, with their traditional gabled roofs, reflect the region’s characteristic architectural style.

The semi-detached houses are conceived as modular structures, allowing for high efficiency in both planning and execution. The alternating orientation of gardens and terraces creates varied outdoor spaces, enabling a clear separation between private and semi-public areas. The compact design also meets the requirements of a ‘Low-Energy House Plus’ standard, contributing to sustainable development. Parking spaces are deliberately centralized to create traffic-free residential zones. This results in a walkable, green microstructure that prioritizes generous garden areas over access roads, offering a high quality of living within a rural context.
