This five-storey residential building near Philadelphia Bridge was built on an empty lot to fill a roughly cubical space. The result became fourteen owner-occupied flats with flexible apartment layouts to make it possible for owners to create new room arrangements in the future, if necessary.
To accommodate flexible floor plans in the five-story residential building for Immover GmbH, a more complex construction with two fixed wet area zones was required. In the heart of the city, we aimed to bring a touch of greenery. Therefore, all living areas were oriented toward the garden, and the colors found in the garden were projected onto the façade.
Through an invitingly tapering foyer, both the garden and the interior staircase are accessed. The staircase is flooded with light from above through a large skylight. This floor plan concept ensures continuous illumination of the apartments, both through the street façade, which is enlivened by staggered bay windows, and through the courtyard-facing side, which gains vibrancy from the interplay of recessed loggias and cantilevered balconies.
